Nicole's Bridal Boudoir Experience - Mildura Portrait PhotographerIs there anything more pretty and pure looking than a woman in a veil? Nicole was one of my first clients to go all out bridal in a flowing veil as a present to her husband to be. Nicole was one of the beauties to attend the launch party and even one of my first consultations before I had the studio! It feels like this was such a long time ago and was so hard keeping these stunning photos a secret until she presented them to her now husband. It was such a pleasure to help this stunning bride surprise her loved one in the lead up to their big day. Did you have any obstacles or fears about doing this session? My obstacle was nothing to do with the session itself but with society as a whole, it goes a lot deeper than just a single photoshoot. I'm pretty well known for my confidence, though it hasn't come easily. I've been plus sized most of my life, and it's hard being plus sized always; but especially as a young woman. They don't make clothes that are both affordable and youthful for big girls; it's either $100 for a cute t-shirt or Mumu's designed for women in their 40's or over. Being a big girl has been tough, I was ferociously bullied in primary and high school because I was always bigger than the other girls. I had to learn to be thick skinned, I believed in faking until you make it, and I still do now. I spent years at high school ignoring my bullies, or telling them I didn't care what they thought; I was beautiful. I didn't believe it for a second, but after a while I really did start to believe it and I attribute most of my confidence to simply the fact that I made myself believe I was the beautiful queen that I am, and have always deserved to be. In that way I was lucky that I had no fears going into the session I knew that I would look hot one way or another, and getting to know Lauren in the months leading up to it absolutely solidified my confidence that she would deliver an amazing experience for me. And boy did she!!! What made you take the leap of faith to do a boudoir session? A boudoir shoot is something I have always wanted to do, I chose to do it as a wedding present to myself and my now husband, I knew it was an investment in myself, and that I deserved to look and feel beautiful. I'm so glad I have these photos to look at and will have them forever to look back and reminisce on an incredible experience. Did I provide enough pre-session info? YES! There was so much info I didn't even think I would need! But I'm so glad I had it! How did you feel BEFORE your session? So excited! It had been a long time coming! How did you like working with my team? Did you love your hair & makeup? Vee is INCREDIBLE! She did my wedding makeup too! and we have been friends for a long time so she was perfect for my session. Mairee was so so lovely and did a great job with all my hair! I had so much of it at the time lol How would you describe the session? (poses, direction, comfort level, thoughts, FEELINGS) The session was phenomenal! I had the best day, Lauren fully understands the human body and what looks best on camera, I love that as you're going you might feel silly or exposed in a pose then she shows you the photo and you look incredible and it helps to just make you want to keep going. Was the session different than you expected? If so, how? I didn't expect to be moving as much as I was, I thought it would more be about holding poses than moving towards them, once I got the hang of not holding my hands in one spot it really made the poses pop! How did you feel AFTER your session? AMAZING!!!! I wanted to tell everyone! lol but was keeping it a surprise for my husband. (That was the hardest part!!) What was your favorite part? The laughs! and the makeup! What was your least favorite part? Keeping it a secret! but that was my fault, I loved everything else Would you ever do another session? YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How did you feel when you saw your images? Empowered! Sexy! Hot! Strong! Did anything change about the way you see yourself after the session?
I think it really just solidified all the hard work I have done to gain the confidence I have in myself already! It definitely made me look at my posing for other photos differently so I learned a lot! Do you have any advice for women considering doing a boudoir session? DO IT!!!! It's 100% worth it! Lauren is incredible at making you feel sexy, don't stress about the little flaws because you don't notice them once you see your photos! Any final thoughts on your session, or anything you'd like other woman to know? Trust Lauren! She is literally an expert in this field, you also get so much for your money, it seems expensive on paper but it's honestly not for all the amazing things you get!!!
