Lingerie as Outerwear | Mildura Portrait PhotographerOne of the most common things we hear from clients after a shoot is "What do I do with my lingerie now?". Many clients have donated pieces to my client wardrobe (which I will never turn down), others stash theirs away in the back of their closet thinking they will never wear it again or just keep it for the bedroom. But who said lingerie only had to be worn in the boudoir or underneath your clothes? It's time to whip out those lacies and incorporate them into your ever day wardrobe! Bodysuits Probably one of the easiest pieces to incorporate into your outfit! Get your grungy Rockstar on by pairing your bodysuit with a pair of ripped jeans and a leather jacket or rock a business sexy look by wearing a bodysuit with tailored pants and a matching blazer. A bodysuit is so versatile, your possibilities are endless! Image: Caitlin on Instagram Cage style bras Doesn't have to be a cage style bra (though the added straps to these add such a cool look), can be shown off in so many ways! Bust out that white button shirt and a pencil skirt and unbutton enough to get a little cheeky peek at some lace underneath. For a fun night out look, pair your cage style bra with a mesh top and a pair of skinny jeans (high waisted ones look amazing) or a skirt and feel playfully bare while still being covered. Still super classy with just a bit of sex appeal. For your larger hole styled fishnets, wearing these underneath a pair of ripped jeans has become a huge trend, especially for music festivals! Wear your cute lacey bralette along with some flowy printed shorts or some denim cut offs for a super cute boho vibe. Image: threebirdnest Under bust corsets/waspies Probably one of the easiest but most effective in dressing up an outfit is chucking on an under bust corset. Wearing one of these over a simple body con dress can instantly elevate your look to something a bit more glam and give you that tiny waist. Image: Corset story

Jayne's boudoir shoot | Boudoir photography30 year old Jayne came to me hoping to incorporate some of her pirate obsession into her boudoir shoot. Of course I jumped on board- I love when you ladies bring something from home to personalise your images. Jayne chose this gorgeous handmade pirate hat as well as some cowboy boots and old akubra to include in her boudoir shoot (Although the cowboys images are for her eyes only). We had an amazing day together, here's what Jayne said of her Pure Beauty Experience: Did you have any obstacles or fears about doing this session? Yes, I was worried about my size as society generally says bigger people aren’t sexy What made you take the leap of faith to do a boudoir session? I was inspired buy some plus size models on Instagram such as Tess Holiday, fuller figure bust and Renee on the Pure Beauty Facebook page. All the local girls looked amazing and I thought if they look like that and are not photo shopped maybe I can too! Did I provide enough pre-session info? Definitely, it was very helpful to have the weeks leading up to the session broken down so I felt confident I was more prepared. How did you feel BEFORE your session? Very nervous, moments of why the hell am I here? I’m embarrassed what if Lauren can’t take photos of me to look good How did you like working with my team? Did you love your hair & makeup? I loved my make up I felt flawless and confident (especially with my red lippy) my hair was a little messier to start with but I guess it looked like bed hair! How would you describe the session? (poses, direction, comfort level, thoughts, FEELINGS) I instantly felt comfortable and it was very helpful Lauren showing me the poses so I had some idea of what I was doing. It was the biggest help when Lauren would show me a beautiful photo of me during the session as it boosted my confidence while we were going. Was the session different than you expected? If so, how? How easily I forgot I was in my underwear! I was surprised that I didn’t have the feeling of judgement that was my biggest fear that I was going to feel scrutinised because of my size. It all melted away How did you feel AFTER your session? Rejuvenated, confident and a sense of empowerment What was your favorite part? Playing with the curtains as I felt breezy and felt so sexy in the lingerie What was your least favorite part? Walking with no bra on to the session! Would you ever do another session? Yes definitely How did you feel when you saw your images? From the one photo which was sent through (the night of the shoot) that I can stop and look at, has made me feel uplifted and confident. I look damn hot and think it has given me a different perspective of my body. Did anything change about the way you see yourself after the session?
Yes my curves are like the lines of art work they provide a story about me and my life and are unique to me. Instead of hating this vessel I have been given to journey through life I need to embrace it and love it how it is. No one I care about judges me for my size but rather my words and actions and the light I give out to the world! Do you have any advice for women considering doing a boudoir session? It’s okay to feel nervous but trust the comforting words from Lauren and be in the moment. Have some fun and if needed ‘fake it till you make it’ and you will have some sexy shots! Be prepared with an idea of what shots you like and try on lingerie before hand at home and try some poses out to feel sexy that helped me the day before Any final thoughts on your session, or anything you'd like other woman to know? Just do it, it so invigorating and is almost the same as skydiving. The rush of endorphins you get when you see your photo and how amazing you look is an amazing rush! |
