Client Feature - Ruby Ruby is a talented model, the only professional model I used for my portfolio. I knew Ruby would be great, but she exceeded my expectations MASSIVELY! I wanted to show what believing and loving yourself can look like in these sessions. After your session, I will ask you to fill out a questionnaire. This, along with the images you choose for me to share, if any will then be posted in your very own feature blog. How old are you? 23 What do you do for a living? Student Did you have any obstacles or fears about doing this session? I have previous experience in fashion and creative photography, so I didn’t have any nerves beforehand! What made you take the leap of faith to do a boudoir session? When Lauren contacted me, her enthusiasm and passion were contagious! I also strongly support any platform that enables women to be empowered, in this case when it comes to body image and sexuality. Did I provide enough pre-session info? Yes How did you feel BEFORE your session? Excited! How did you like working with my team? Did you love your hair & makeup? All the girls were fun and energetic, they could put even the most nervous girl at ease. They really put the effort in to make you feel camera ready. How would you describe the session? Overall it was fun and creative - Lauren makes it easy to be yourself while simultaneously exploring the theme in new and exciting ways. It was like hanging out with your best girl friends, helping each other be their best selves! I felt comfortable the whole time, there was no moment that I felt forced to be anything I didn’t want to be, which is such an important yet regrettably rare thing for photography as a platform. I applaud you Lauren! Was the session different than you expected? If so, how? The only surprise was how relaxed and free flowing it was! It is no exaggeration to say it was like being with a friend and just having fun. It’s all about you as a client and what you want out of the session, which is such a great atmosphere for creating beautiful work. How did you feel AFTER your session? I felt energised and empowered, like I had just celebrated a really important but under represented part of my womanhood. What was your favorite part? To be among others of a like-mind, who are all about giving you a space to be yourself totally and without apology. What was your least favorite part? The wait to reveal the secret (as my shoot was prior to Lauren announcing her new business adventure) Would you ever do another session? Heck Yes How did you feel when you saw your images? It was so interesting to see that side of myself; I completely loved the images! I’m used to seeing myself in photos but I felt like I could truly see the difference in my body language when given the chance to just be who I wanted to be. Did anything change about the way you see yourself after the session? It just reinforced my feelings that while I’m far more than the way that I look, it can be so good for us to celebrate our bodies in the ways that we see fit! I love myself, inside and out. Do you have any advice for women considering doing a boudoir session? That if you’re interested, take the leap. Embrace the opportunity to be surrounded by fellow women who are there to celebrate you, to celebrate women, to give us all a platform to be completely free with no hidden agendas. It is all about you, to express a part of yourself that sometimes isn’t given enough light. Any final thoughts on your session, or anything you'd like other woman to know?
That I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to be a part of a creative opportunity by a woman FOR women. Our world needs more platforms for women to express their sexuality, sensuality and sense of self confidence; and for that, Lauren, I thank you.
