Emily is 33 years old as is an occupational therapist & describes herself as shy and reserved. This Boudoir shoot was very much out of her comfort zone but you can't tell one single bit from these images. She absolutely nailed the poses and more importantly, the facials, which can be the hardest to master (you really need to get out of your head during these sessions). I am so proud of you Emily! You are an absolute goddess! Makeup & assistant: Brodee Kernaghan Hair Stylist: Willow Hair Did you have any obstacles or fears about doing this session? Yes! I have always been a self conscious person. I have always worried far too much about what other people think or how people see me. I have always been shy and reserved so the idea of getting in front of a camera wearing next to nothing was terrifying! What made you take the leap of faith to do a boudoir session? I loved reading how passionate Lauren was about promoting self confidence and empowerment. I followed Laurens page for a short time before I found myself seriously considering it. This would be something completely out of my comfort zone and something completely random for me. I spoke to my husband at great length about it and he was incredibly supportive. His words were "go for it, I just want you to have fun and be able to see yourself through my eyes!". Did I provide enough pre-session info? Yes! Lauren was incredible with the amount of information she provided. How did you feel BEFORE your session? Nervous and excited all in one! I couldn't believe that I was actually going ahead with it! How did you like working with my team? Did you love your hair & makeup? I was incredibly happy with my hair and make up! Brodee in particular was incredibly thoughtful and supportive. I felt so comfortable! ow would you describe the session? I absolutely loved my session! Lauren made me feel so incredibly comfortable! To the point where I actually 'forgot' that I was walking around in next to nothing. I wasn't even thinking about that part! Lauren was amazing. She stepped me through everything. She provided good clear instructions and encouragement throughout the whole session. Lauren demonstrated the poses and then continued to prompt me as required in such a gentle manner. I couldn't fault her. Lauren has definitely got a gift. Her passion, enthusiasm and encouragement is so inspiring and uplifting! Was the session different than you expected? If so, how? Yes! I was 100% expecting to feel ridiculously awkward and uncomfortable. I was worried that I wouldn't have a clue what I was doing and that it would reflect in the photos. But I couldn't have been more wrong. For someone that has always 'worried too much', I felt so comfortable and supported by Lauren. And the biggest thing that surprised me... I had the most FUN that I have had in ages! I felt so confident and empowered when I walked out of the studio which was the best part! How did you feel AFTER your session? Sometimes I still can't believe that I actually went ahead with the shoot. I am so proud of myself! I saw myself from a different perspective and I loved it! What was your favorite part? I loved the 'me time'! It was all about ME for a change. I am sure that other Mothers out there can also relate but throughout our busy life of raising our young children, there is not a lot of time left to just focus on 'me'. So I loved the entire process. From lingerie shopping to being pampered by hair/make up artists to having my shoot to being spoilt with a massage. It was all so brilliant and I would recommend it to anyone. Incredibly soul soothing and empowering! What was your least favorite part? Hmm- probably having to wait the two weeks until reveal! I was itching to see the photos! I was literally counting down the days! Would you ever do another session? Yes! How did you feel when you saw your images? Gob smacked! I was honestly blown away! I just kept thinking and saying 'oh my god!' I felt SO proud and relieved that I decided to go ahead with the shoot. I felt amazing! Did anything change about the way you see yourself after the session? Most definitely! I realised that there is more to it than just the couple of things that I am so self conscious about. Turns out there are parts of my body that I bloody love and I finally got to appreciate this from my husbands perspective! Do you have any advice for women considering doing a boudoir session?
Do it! Start saving your dollars and totally do it! I was well out of my comfort zone and had never considered anything like this but I am so relieved that I was added to Laurens VIP group! It was one of the most empowering, uplifting, motivating, classy, positive and FUN things that I have ever done. Any final thoughts on your session, or anything you'd like other woman to know? You won't regret it! Not one single bit! Your body will however be very sore for the days afterwards but oh my god, it is well worth it!
